History & Vision

TSGI grew out of a Calgary-based Chartered Accountancy (CA) practice originally founded by Ken Cudmore in 1983.

In the early years, the firm experienced tremendous organic growth, earned through a reputation for uncompromising excellence and fully personalized service. Consulting services at that time included a full menu of general accounting support, business planning, tax advising, and succession planning. Business grant writing and SR&ED applications naturally evolved as complementary services under the umbrella of our accounting practice. Our close involvement with our clients led us to a deep understanding of business as practiced and experienced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

By the late 1990s, we had helped scores of companies succeed with SR&ED and other forms of government funding and had seen the tremendous, positive, impact these programs had on our clients’ growth. We were inspired by these experiences to form TSGI in 2000 to focus exclusively on assisting companies to benefit from the SR&ED and other government grant programs.

Our vision is to be the provider of choice for R&D funding services in Western Canada by integrating first-rate tax expertise with talented science professionals and a deep understanding of business practices.
